IIHS Sienna Safety Rating

Most minivan buyers have safety on their mind even more if they’re transporting young families. With a Good rating for Crashworthiness in moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints & seats, and an Advanced rating on crash avoidance & mitigation, the 2017 Toyota Sienna has received top marks in its category from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The IIHS website goes into detail outlining how the Sienna reacted in crash simulations. With photos and videos demonstrating the tests, along with a full ranking of other model years, prospective buyers can compare the Toyota Corolla’s consistently good ranking since 1998.

The only down side listed for the Toyota Sienna is in regards to the child seat anchors. The tether anchors are marked as having a hard-to-find location, while the lower anchors are deep in the seat. While this may cause momentary frustration for those installing a child seat for the first time, it doesn’t impact the safety or functionality of the car seats once installed.
