Toyota Hybrid Racing Concept

The Frankfurt Motor Show was the site of the introduction of Toyota’s new hybrid racing concept. Forming part of Toyota’s hybrid-centric show booth, the Yaris Hybrid R gets a four-cylinder 1.6L Global Race Engine and two electric motors for four-wheel-drive.

The Hybrid Yaris recovers energy during braking so that it can store energy and deploy it fast for an extra push. With two different driving modes, road and track, this showpiece won’t be making an appearance at your local dealer anytime soon.

That said, with more than 5.5 million Toyota hybrids purchased since 1997, maybe a 400bhp Yaris Hybrid is a good idea for the automaker that’s been top of the hybrid game since the beginning.
